Last year the Warrior of the Sea event was a massive success with participants coming from all over the world to take part in what is becoming one of the most prestigious open Ocean swims in Ireland.
Over 500 people registered to take place in the swim last year with only 250 places available.
This year priority registration occurs on Saturday 12th January 2013 for just 24 hours. This is open to previous participants. The priority places have been limited to 125 entrants. Registration is open to the general public at 9am on Sunday 13th January 2013.

Remember this is a 6km open ocean swim, so you must be a proficient swimmer to enter.
Event organiser Scot Reid said already ahead of 2013 event the interest in the swim has far surpassed previous years reflecting the growing interest in this most unique event.
“We are delighted to once again be launching the swim. it has just grown and developed so much in recent years it is amazing. In three years it has grown 500% and is now the No.1 swim to compete in in the North West and becoming recognised as one of the most prestigious swims nationally”, he said.
This years competitors lineup is once again expected to include includes national champions, English Channel swimmers and international competitors from America, France, England, South Africa, USA and Australia.
For those not familiar with the swim it is a truly grueling test of endurance where hardy competitors set off from Rosses Point and head across the stormy and tidal waters of Sligo Bay in a 6km Open Ocean swim to Strandhill.
