Enniscrone beach has failed to get back its blue flag status having lost it last year.
An Taisce made an announcement yesterday in relation to the 2016 Blue Flag and Green Coast Beach Awards.
Sligo was awarded one Blue Flag Award for Rosses Point, with Green Coast Awards going to Rosses Point, Dunmoran, Streedagh and Mullaghmore.
However, Enniscrone failed to meet just one of the 32 criteria needed for blue flag status, that of water quality.
The water quality status at Enniscrone was classified as good.
The status of good for Enniscrone emanates from heavy rainfall at the start of June 2014 which impacted on a routine compliance sample taken at the beach.
