A Sinn Fein TD in Leitrim has rejected claims by the Garda Representative Association that he abused Dail privilege in making allegations about the force in Leitrim yesterday.
Martin Kenny says he makes no apology for revealing allegations of malpractice in the force in county Leitrim in the Dail.
These included claims that members of the force engage active criminals as informants and the use of informers to set up or entrap people.:
He claims the allegations come from both serving and previous members of the force in the county.
However the Garda Representative Association has today hit out at the claims saying they are unfair and the proper channels of firstly going to GSOC and the Garda Commissioner should be followed before making such serious allegations in the Dail.

However, Martin Kenny says these issues WERE reported to the-then Garda Commissioner Martin Callinan in 2009 but they were not dealt with.
He told Ocean FM today he’s calling for a proper inquiry and a Commission of Investigation be put in place and has defended his decision to use Dail privilege to reveal these serious allegations:
