A Donegal Principal says unless the criteria for schools to get Special Needs Assistants is changed – extra investment in this area will not benefit the pupils who need it.
Ocean FM News can reveal that despite an overall increase in the number of SNAs assigned to schools in the coming year, nearly 30 primary schools in Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal will lose these vital assistants for the 2016/2017 school year.
Eleven of these are in Sligo with nine schools in Donegal and another nine in Leitrim losing out.
Principals who have spoken to Ocean FM today say that the criteria is the major issue.
