Minister says more needs to be done to encourage women into key roles



Around six hundred people are attending the Women and Agriculture conference in Sligo today.

It’s the first time the event has been held in the north west and it has been organised by the Irish Farmer’s Journal.

The Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed was the first guest speaker today speaking about the measures introduced to support the farming sector in the Budget, Brexit and farm safety.

He’s one of a number of speakers at the day-long event which is taking place in the Radisson Hotel with Fionnoula O’Kelly who is the wife of Enda Kenny.

Minister Creed outlined to Ocean FM News that more needs to be done to get more women into key positions in both his department and on state boards in general:
