The number of new homes granted planning permission in county Sligo doubled over the summer months compared to last year.
The Central Statistics Office has published its planning report for the third quarter of 2016 which covers July, August and September.
In that time 33 houses were granted planning in county Sligo compared to just 14 last year.
The trend is also on the increase in Donegal where planning approvals are also increasing from 62 houses in Donegal in the third quarter of 2015 to 76 in the same period this year.
The numbers of applications for new houses in Leitrim halved though from just two approvals last year to one in that timeframe this year.
