Council calls for time limit on rural social schemes to be reversed

Sligo County Council is calling on the Minister for Social Protection to reverse the new three-year time limit for people on rural social schemes.

Fianna Fail Councillor Keith Henry made the proposal at the December meeting of the council, saying the three-year limit is far too restrictive.

Cllr Henry says people on those schemes are on low incomes and need stability:
