An Post have confirmed that a decision on the future of two post offices in the North West is due before the end of January.
The post office services in Blacklion, Co. Cavan and Ballygawley in Co. Sligo have been under threat of closure in recent months.
The postmistress in Blacklion is due to retire from the position at the beginning of February while there is an interim postmistress in place in Ballygawley following the death of the postmaster.
Both services went through periods of public consultation while An Post received over two and a half thousand signatures to keep the post office in Ballygawley open before Christmas.
