The Fianna Fail Finance spokesperson Michael McGrath is to address a business breakfast briefing in Sligo later this week.
The event is a fundraiser for the party ahead of the next election.
PRO for the Sligo Comhairle Dail Cheantair Donal Gilroy says the party has to be prepared for an election.
The national party does not give funds towards local candidates.
