Mixed news for trolley numbers in North West hospitals



The number of patients waiting on trolleys in Letterkenny University Hospital has more than halved in the past 24 hours according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.

16 people are waiting for admission to the hospital today, there was 34 on trolleys there on Monday.

4 of those on trolleys are in the emergency department with the remainder waiting in the overflow area of wards.

The full capacity protocol had been in place yesterday and the hospital management issued an apology to anyone badly affected by the waiting periods.

The numbers on trolleys in the North West is 30 today with 14 patients in Sligo Hospital.

The INMO trolley watch report shows 522 people waiting for a hospital bed nationally with the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar the worst affected as 41 patients wait on trolleys
