It’s emerged that 58 schools in the North West have been left without access to the National Educational Psychological Service.
The service provides schools access to psychological services which are paid for by NEPS.
12 schools in Sligo, 14 in Leitrim and 32 in Donegal have been left with a temporary lack of access to a NEPS psychologist due to maternity, long term sick or carers leave.
The figures were confirmed by Minister for Education Richard Bruton following a recent parliamentary question tabled by Sinn Fein TD Carol Nolan.
Sinn Fein’s Chris MacManus has expressed his concern and called on the Minister to address the lack of a vital support.
