Donegal TD one of many to quiz Justice Minister over Garda controversy



The Garda Commissioner remains under pressure, despite a strong defence from the Justice Minister in the Dáil last night.

Opposition parties want Nóirín O’Sullivan to stand down amid the controversies surrounding breath tests and speeding convictions.

Senior Garda Management say they only realised the scale of the problem in recent weeks.

Independent Donegal TD Thomas Pringle was one of a number of TDs who questioned Minister Frances Fitzgerald for over two hours in the Dail last night.

He asked why it took ten months for the Gardai to contact the department on the discrepancy in figures.

The Tanaiste and Justice Minister said the transfer of information is key here and is being looked into:
