A lecturer at the Institute of Technology in Sligo has won one of the country’s most prestigious awards for her writing.
Una Mannioin has been awarded the National Hennessy Literary 2017 Award for a poem entitled ‘Crouched Burial.’
The same poem also won the Yeats Society’s Seamus Heaney memorial Poetry Prize in 2015. She is a member of the Sandy Field Writers’ Group based in County Sligo.
Una is chair of IT Sligo’s new BA in writing and literature and also teaches performing arts in the IT’s School of Engineering and Design.
She has been telling Ocean FM News what inspired her to write the poem ‘Crouched Burial.’
