Organisers of the ‘Enough is Enough’ campaign say that they will take their concerns about mental health services in the North West to Dail Eireann.
It follows a rally held in Sligo today.
Sinn Fein Councillor Thomas Healy was one of those at the event. He says GPs have now received a memo from the HSE urging them not to refer people under 18 to the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services due to a backlog.
At present there are around 350 children on the waiting list.
The HSE says the underlying problem is a lack of qualified consultant psychiatrists around the country leading the problems filling these vacant roles on a full-time basis.
Councillor Healy said today’s march was well-attended and they intend to go to Dublin to make their views known to the Health Minister as a next step:
