There are now serious concerns for the future of the District Veterinary Lab in Sligo.

The review of the labs is complete and the recommendations now rest with Minister Michael Creed.
Anger is growing locally among farmers and there are calls for the Minister to come out and state clearly his plans for the lab.
The lab which is based at Doonally provides an important animal testing and welfare role and it serves the whole of the North West region.
It is now strongly feared that the Department may go ahead with the closures of the Sligo, Limerick and Kilkenny Labs.
