The death has taken place of well-known Bundoran councillor and hotelier, Sean McEniff.
Cllr McEniff, who was 81, passed away today in hospital in Dublin. He had been taken ill after an accident in Spain last November.
He was Ireland’s longest serving councillor had been a Fiannna Fail member of Donegal County Council since 1967. He was successfully re-elected at every council election since.
He was also a former member of Bundoran Town Council, until its abolition three years ago.
Cllr McEniff was a successful businessman, and the owner of a number of hotels in Donegal and Dublin.
He was a former Director of Bord Failte and was named as the Donegal Person of the Year in 1996.
Cllr McEniff also insisted he was always a staight talker, and was his own man in politics, despite being aligned to the Fianna Fail party, as he told Ocean FM’s North West Today show last year
