There are ‘significant numbers’ of patients awaiting admission to Letterkenny University Hospital today where the emergency department is ‘extremely busy.’
Efforts are continuing at the hospital to identify patients who can be discharged.
There are 28 people waiting on trolleys at the hospital, 19 in the emergency department and overflow areas, and nine in wards.
People are asked to attend the Emergency Department only in cases of real emergencies and to first contact their GP or GP-Out-of-Hours service.
In Sligo University Hospital, there are five people on trolleys, and 25 in University Hospital Galway.
Overall, in the country today, there are more than 480 people on trolleys.
