Fire services from all four Sligo stations continue to battle mountain gorse fires which broke out at Killery and Crossboy near Ballintogher and Dromahair yesterday afternoon.
Approximately 42 personnel are on continuous rotation dealing with the blaze which is affecting about 4,000 acres of land on the mountain, although not all areas are under threat.
Neighbouring brigades are not in attendance at the moment but crews from Leitrim and Donegal did provide assistance last night.
Speaking to Ocean FM this afternoon, Director of Services at Sligo County Council, Tom Kilfeather, says the fire is currently under control.
He said the council will call in the Air Corps to dump water on the fire if required.
The R287 Dromahair Road remains closed and will remain so until it is deemed safe to re-open.
Mr Kilfeather has also urged members of the public to keep away from the Slish Wood/Killery Mountain area, which straddles the Sligo/Leitrim border.
