Donegal, Sligo and Leitrim are to get almost €3m to return about 290 vacant local authority homes in the three counties to use.
It’s part of announcement by Minister Simon Coveney to provide more than €24m nationally for investment in 1,400 vacant local authority social houses.
It’s part of an ongoing plan to deliver 47,000 homes by 2021 at a cost of €5.35 billion.
Donegal is to get almost €1.9m to provide 128 homes.
Leitrim is getting €260,700 for 16 homes while Sligo will get €739,000 for 44 homes.
Sligo/Leitrim FIne Gael TD Tony McLoughlin says it’s good news that work will now be done on both vacant houses and houses in need of work so as to make them available to people on the housing list who are waiting to get a home:
The news has been welcomed by Sligo Fianna Fail Councillor Seamus Kilgannon.
