No indication on co-option to fill the seat of the late Sean McEniff

With a month having passed since the death of the late Donegal councillor Sean McEniff, there is still no indication as to when a motion will come before the county council for his successor to be coopted.

Often, at least a month is allowed to pass as a mark of respect before such a move is made.

Councillor McEniff, Ireland’s longest serving councillor, passed away on April 21st last.

His local Bundoran Fianna Fail cumann has already nominated his daughter, Elizabeth McIntyre, a former Bundoran Town Council member, to succeed him.

However, it’s not clear at this stage if other Cumainn may also nominate someone.
