Well known Donegal Town business to close their doors this weekend after 65 years

One of the best-known businesses in Donegal will close this weekend after 65 years in operation.

It’s McGettigan and Sons butcher shop in Donegal Town, which is renown for its produce, having won numerous European and national awards for its sausages.

Prince Charles visited the shop in May 2016 during his visit to Donegal Town, where he was greeted by brothers Ernan and Diarmuid McGettigan.

On that occasion the prince tasted the sausages, saying they were fabulous while Lady Camilla tasted the lamb with rosemary and plum.

The business will close this Saturday, having originally opened in June 1952.
