A Sligo Councillor says private bin companies are doing nothing to prevent illegal dumping because their charges are so high.
People Before Profit Councillor in Sligo Gino O’Boyle is calling on one of those companies to clarify recent changes to its service and a gradual increase in pick-up charges.
He says that Greenstar recently changed its pick-up date from Tuesday to Monday without notifying customers.
He will also call on Sligo County Council to ask them why there has been such an increase in charges.
Ocean FM News is awaiting a response from Greenstar on this issue.
He says they are just one of many companies who claim to be interested in protecting the environment but who are actually just focused on profit while people people struggle to pay their bills:
