The PFAI have announced their shortlist for their players’ player of the year awards, and also their team of the season for the League of Ireland Premier Division.
Seanie Maguire, Patrick McEleney and Aaron McEneff have been shortlisted for the player of the year awards, with Derry’s McEneff also nominated for the young player award alongside Trevor Clarke of Shamrock Rovers and Cork’s Ryan Delaney.
Donegal referee Paul McLoughlin is among the three officials shortlisted for referee of the year along with Paul Tuite and Graham Kelly.
Shane Duffy, James McClean and Robbie Brady are nominated for the Irish overseas award, while Megan Campbell, Katie McCabe and Denise O’Sullivan are shortlisted for the international women’s player of the year award.
The team of the season contains some surprises, with four players from Dundalk and just three from double winners Cork City.
Clarke, McEneff, Derry keeper Ger Doherty and Galway attacker Ronan Murray join Dundalk’s Sean Gannon, Niclas Vemmelund, McEleney and David McMillan, and Delaney, Maguire and Gearoid Morrissey from Cork.
The award winners will be announced in Dublin on Saturday week.
The PFA Ireland Awards will take place on Saturday, 18th November 2017 at The Marker Hotel, Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2.
