What locals have described as ‘Noisey and Disruptive’ work to replace water pipes in Sligo town is to finish ahead of schedule in March.
Irish Water has confirmed today that the pipe-laying work which has been ongoing for well over a year now is nearly finished.
The project is currently continuing at Fatima Avenue, Hyde Bridge and Lower Knox Street with night-works taking place at Wine Street.
The earlier finish time means the major road closures and night work will come to an end but there will still be some minor road surfacing to be finished.

But the works have come in for a lot of criticism by residents in particular who have complained about the noise at night.
Sinn Fein Councillor Chris MacManus raised the issue at a meeting of the Council this week.
