Name recognition is critical when it comes to business.
And one of the areas where it’s crucial is with placenames, tourism and the effort to attract visitors.
That’s one of the concerns in the coastal west Sligo village of Enniscrone, where there are two different versions of the spelling of the place.
Most people in the area spell the name beginning with an ‘E’ but the official name, such as on road signs, starts with an ‘I’.
But with the increasing dominance of social media when it comes to marketing, it’s vital for an area like Enniscrone to have one recognised spelling, as local solicitor Sinead Durkan has been telling our reporter Harry Keaney:
A public meeting to discuss the whole issue of the spelling of the village will take place tonight in the Diamond Coast Hotel at 8 o’clock.
