A Leitrim councillor says more needs to be done to help families look after their elderly relatives in their own homes and in their own communities.
Sinn Fein’s Brendan Barry says this should be done by more nursing home places being provided by the HSE.
He also says that there’s a huge need for more home help hours to help families care for their loved ones in their own homes.
And he says that nursing home places should be available in the areas where people are living, close to their own communities.
