Sligo has the worst local roads in the country along with Offaly.
The statistics come from the Department of Transport but in fact were relayed back to the Minister this week as part of a special delegation to appeal for more money to fix Class 2 and 3 roads in the county.
Director of Services Tom Kilfeather says 85% of Sligo’s roads are rural local roads and nearly a third of these are in what he calls ‘severe structural distress’.
