Sligo County Council are now investigating the erection of the ‘NO’ sign on Ben Bulben after they received a number of complaints.
In a statement the Council says it is being investigated by their Planning Enforcement Section.
The National Parks and Wildlife Service are also calling for the immediate removal of the ‘NO’ sign from Ben Bulben.
They say insinuation of alien materials such as this onto a special area of conservation is insensitive to its conservation status and incompatible with the habitat.
