Coach-operators visiting Glencar have highlighted the smell of sewerage in the area.
It’s yet another scenic area in the North West that is being impacted by inadequate wastewater treatment.
The same issues have been reported in the past few weeks and plagued the Mullaghmore area in north Sligo last summer.
Leitrim County Council says that the increasing number of tourists at Glencar is putting pressure on the system which needs an upgrade.
In the meantime, the Council has to remove the waste in tankards to ensure the system doesn’t get overloaded.
