Polling stations report a strong turnout with Ballymote the highest in the NW so far



Polling stations are reporting a strong turnout in today’s Abortion Referendum.

At 4 o’clock Ballymote was the area reporting the highest turnout at 33%, in Donegal town the turnout was 32% just before 4pm.

The turnout in Mountcharles at half three was 21%.

At 3pm there was a 26% turnout in Keelogs and a 25% turnout in Frosses in South West Donegal.

Drimarone was reporting a 22% turnout at around 3pm.

In county Sligo, for example, there was a 22% turnout in Keash in south Sligo at lunchtime with similar figures in Gurteen.

In Leitrim, there was a 28% turnout in Drumkeerin at 5pm.

Earlier figures showed a 28% in Carrick-on-Shannon and a 20% in Manorhamilton at lunchtime.

Meanwhile, there’s Irish people living abroad are still arriving into airports around the country to vote in today’s referendum.
