There’s been a 185 per cent rise in the numbers waiting for admission to hospital on trolleys at Sligo University Hospital in May this year compared to the same month in 2017.
The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation says 377 patients were waiting on trolleys or wards last month in Sligo, while 132 were waiting on a bed during the same month last year.
At Letterkenny University Hospital, the year on year figure fell by 39%, with 310 people awaiting admission at the hospital last month, compared to 507 in 2017.
