The Fine Gael party will hold a selection convention tonight to select its local election candidates for the seven-seat Ballymote/Tubbercurry/West Sligo area.
Seven people have expressed an interest in being nominated; they include outgoing councillor Dara Mulvey, former junior minister and councillor John Perry, and former councillor, Gerard Mullaney.
Dromore West businessman Blair Feeney, who narrowly lost out on a council seat in 2014, is also seeking a nomination as is Martin Connolly, a postman from Tubbercurry.
The number of candidates to be chosen will be revealed at the convention; Ocean FM News understands it will be three or four.
Fine Gael Regional Organiser Enda McGloin says events will get under way at 7pm in the Castledargan Hotel in Ballygawley.
