A status orange wind warning has been issued for Donegal this morning.
Gusts of up to 130 kilometres an hour are expected from this morning in Donegal, Galway and Mayo.
A status yellow wind warning is in place for Sligo and Leitrim, with gusts of 110km forecast.
The highest winds will be in exposed coastal areas, where these values may be exceeded at times.
High seas and some coastal flooding are also expected.
Speaking to Ocean FM news Meteorologist with Met Éireann, Deirdre Lowe, explains what conditions will be like as Storm Erik approaches:
There are reports of a tree down on the road between Kinlough and Manorhamilton.
Although it is not blocking the road, motorists are urged to drive with care.
A tree was down on the road between Gurteen and Ballymote, near the turn-of for Killavil, but that road is now cleared.
A tree that was down between Ballisodare and Ballygawley, near a railway bridge, has also been cleared.
There are other reports this morning of branches and debris having come down on roads in various parts of the region.
