Parking charges in Ballyshannon have finally been abolished.
The decision, taken by councillors at a Donegal Municipal District meeting yesterday, brings to an end years of campaigning to get rid of the charges.
Over the years, it transpired that it cost more to collect the charges than they brought in.
Fine Gael Councillor Barry O’ Neill says it was wrong that towns like Ballyshannon had parking charges when others in Donegal hadn’t.
