Sligo’s Conan O’Donnell moves to Japanese Super Rugby team

Sligo native Conan O’Donnell is joining the Japanese side the Sunwolves for the second-half of the Super Rugby season, following his release from Connacht in recent weeks.

O’Donnell has linked up with his new team-mates in Australia where the Sunwolves are preparing for their next game against the ACT Brumbies next Sunday.

The 22-year-old made just one senior start for Connacht this season, and came on a substitute six times. His season was hampered by a series of injury problems and the former Ireland under 20 intenational is now determined to seek a new challenge in his rugby career.

Super Rugby is the main club rugby union competition in the southern hemisphere and involves teams from Argentina, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Japan.
