Waterford FC 3 Sligo Rovers 3

Sligo Rovers drew 3-3 with Waterford FC in an eventful SSE Aitricity League Premier Division game at the RSC in Waterford on Saturday evening.

Kris Twardek gave Rovers the lead on 18 minutes following good work by team skipper David Cawley, but goals from Corey Galvin and Shane Duggan gave the home side a 2-1 lead at half-time.

Ronan Coughlan equalised for Rovers in the second-half – and then Romeo Parkes fired the visitors in front.

Waterford had a chance to restore parity on 75 minutes but Duggan’s penalty was saved by Rovers keeper Mitchell Beeney.

Duggan had another chance after that but he blazed over the bar from closed range.

Rovers were then awarded a penalty in the 80th minute but Ronan Coughlan’s spot kick was saved by Waterford keeper Matthew Connor.
