Sligo Rovers draw 0-0 with Derry City

Sligo Rovers and Derry City played out a scoreless draw in Saturday night’s SSE Airticity League Premier Division game at the Showgrounds.

In front of a crowd of 2,189 spectators, the first half was a largely forgettable affair with few moments of note from either side.

However, Rovers manager Liam Buckley brought on Ronan Murray at half-time and changed things around – which improved the home side’s influence on the game.

Rovers had a number of chances in the second 45 minutes but were unable to convert any of them.

The home side felt they had genuine appeals for a penalty turned down in both halves after John Mahon in the first, and skipper David Cawley in the second both appeared to have been impeded – but it finished 0-0.

Rovers move onto 21 points after 17 games and up to sixth in the table after the results. View the Premier Division table here.
