Local INHFA objection to reductions in organic manure

The Irish Natura and Hill Farmers Association have confirmed that they have engaged with the Department of Agriculture to highlighting the need for flexibility and exemptions to the proposed requirements for a 5% reduction in organic manure produced on Suckler farms.

This is currently a requirement for farmers to qualify for a payment in the Beef Exceptional Aid Measure.

Sligo Farmer Colm O’ Donnell is the President of the INHA.

Speaking earlier to the Ocean FM Farm Desk he says the Minister for Agriculture now needs to clarify whether or not suckler farmers with legally binding minimum stocking densities relating to the Nature Directives, and farmers participating in the Glas Commonage Management Plan will be required to reduce numbers in order to meet the conditions attached to BEAM.
