Sligo PPN says it’s concerned after figures show almost half of the country’s community groups are in danger of closing if insurance costs continue to rise.
This news comes just days before the announcement of the Gurteen Playground and Recreation Group that they have closed the playground as no company in Ireland would provide insurance.
The research suggests that 83% of community organisations have seen insurance costs rise, with a third of them now paying more than €1,500 a year.
