An increase in investment needs to be made in the Shannon-Erne Waterway linking the River Shannon with the River Eske in County Donegal.
That’s according to local Fianna Fail General election candidate for Sligo and Leitrim, Shane Ellis.
Speaking to Ocean FM News, Mr Ellis believes that the Ballinamore-Ballyconnell canal is a great asset to the community and with investment and maintenance it has the potential to increase tourism.
But before this could go ahead the Canal needs to be dredged which Shane Ellis insists is a major problem affecting the local community
