A Leitrim councillor is asking for information about what nutrients and discharge from the sewage treatment plant in Kinlough may be entering Lough Melvin.
Local Fianna Fail Councillor Justin Warnock voiced his concerns at this week’s monthly meeting of councillors from the Manorhamilton Municipal District.
Cllr Warnock says there is a large part of Lough Melvin covered by an algae bloom.
He’s calling for tests to be carried out to see what has caused the problem.
