IT Sligo’s senior men’s gaelic footballers were handed a home draw in the first round of the 2020 Sigerson Cup, when the draw was made in DCU.
The Institute will be at home to University of Limerick when the competition begins early in the New Year. It’s IT Sligo’s first ‘home’ Sigerson Cup fixture since 2009.
IT Sligo Gaelic Games manager Michael Harte spoke to Ocean FM Sport after the draw:
Letterkenny IT, managed by Donegal team captain Michael Murphy, were drawn away to Athlone IT. Holders UCC will face NUI Galway, who include former Sligo footballer Kevin O’Donnell in their ranks.
As part of the changes to the GAA’s master fixture list, the Sigerson competition is being run off during January.
