The rising costs of rent coupled with ever increasing house prices are leading to a greater than ever demand for local authority housing stock in north Leitrim.
At this month’s meeting of Manorhamilton Municipal District of Leitrim County Council, Sinn Fein Councillor Padraig Fallon looked to establish what the current levels of available housing was in the area.
Following the meeting and Speaking to OceanFM news Cllr. Fallon says the number of those in need of accommodation has risen significantly in recent times and it will continue to be a major challenge for the local authority in the years to come.
