The sale of the former Mattel factory in Drumshanbo County Leitrim has been completed today.
The factory which was operated by BFN foods in more recent years has been purchased by the Drumshanbo Community Council and the Leitrim Foods Enterprise Zone.
With the existing ‘food hub’ in Drumshanbo operating at full capacity it’s expected the purchase of the new facility which is situated on the Dowra Road will enable extra food production and will eventually lead to the creation of 50 new jobs.
Cathaoirleach of Leitrim County Council and Local Fine Gael Councillor Enda Mc Gloin says the purchase of the former IDA facility will help boost the economic activity in Drumshanbo.
