A Independent general election candidate says the new government will have to urgently address the issue of pay and allowances for members of the Defence Forces.
Sligo/Leitrim, South Donegal, North Roscommon candidate John Perry says he has met families of Defence Forces members and they had told him how they are struggling to survive.
Mr Perry says the numbers leaving the Defence Forces, the failure to retain staff and the drop in recruitment figures are all indicative of the all-time low morale.
