The current model of industrialised single exotic species of trees is damaging our rural societies.
That’s according to Sligo/Leitrim/South Donegal and North Roscommon general election candidate, Green Party candidate Dr. Bláithin Gallagher.
Speaking after a Green Party North West meeting in the Glasshouse Hotel in Sligo, Gallagher called for a full review of the forestry legislation including the governing body Coillte, the removal of Sitka Spruce trees and to put a stop to clear felling, mono crop trees.
