The issue of ongoing flooding on ‘The long stretch’ road from Ballintogher to Carraroe still remains a concern for many local residents despite Sligo council carrying out monitoring of water levels in the area.
it’s been claimed that Council staff were unable to carry out remedial works on the road due to the lack of funds.
That’s according to local Sinn Fein Councillor Thomas Healy who has now called for adequate funding to be allocated to address the issue of flooding on the road.
Cllr Healy is requesting the local authority to apply for funding from a new 483 million investment scheme for drainage and strengthening works to resolve this ongoing issue.
