A Leitrim Sinn Fein Councillor is calling on the Minister for Social Protection to amend legislation to allow people who are working and receiving a widow’s pension claim some form of Illness benefit should they require it.
Drumkeerin based Sinn Féin Councillor, Padraig Fallon has raised the matter highlighting what he describes as an anomaly that current exists within the system.
Cllr Fallon has requested the matter should be raised with the Minister for Social Protection.
He says that it is unfair that individuals who are paying PRSI Contributions cannot make a claim when they need it.
