There were mixed forturnes for the north-west counties in Sunday’s Lidl national football league games.
Donegal gave their survival ambitions in Division 1 a significant boost with an impressive 2-6 to 0-8 win against last season’s league winners Cork in Ballyshannon.
Sligo are in relegation trouble in Division 3 after they lost to Longford by two points, 0-12 to 0-10, in Collooney. Michéal Bohan’s side now need to win their two remaining games to avoid the drop.
Leitrim are in strong contention for promotion in Division 4 following their big 4-13 to 1-6 win against Limerick in Carrick-on-Shannon.
