Gallant Sligo Grammar beaten by Garbally

Sligo Grammar School lost an absorbing Top Oil Connacht Senior School’s Cup final at the Sportsground in Galway on Wednesday afternoon when they were narrowly beaten by holders Garbally College by 14 points to 12.

The Grammar trailed the holders 14-0 at half-time but managed to score two second-half tries to haul themselves back into the contest. Hubert Gilvarry narrowly missed the conversion kick to bring the sides level – and in a dramatic finale, Garbally just held on to win by two.

The result completes a three-in-row of Connacht Senior Cup titles for Garbally.
